Alex offers wedding or special event dance instruction and choreography packages for couples, families or wedding parties interested in having a dance crafted specially for them. These packages include:
a consult to discuss your vision for the special day
a series of dance lessons tailored to your needs and schedule, with Alex’s supportive and playful coaching
custom choreography or a thoughtful selection of patterns for you to improvise with, set to your chosen song
Private Technique Lessons
Alex also teaches private dance/movement lessons and is available to hire for group classes at your private event, in a variety of movement styles:
social partner dance and ballroom (including West-Coast Swing, Lindy-hop, Waltz, Salsa, Blues and many more)
functional movement mechanics and strength+mobility for injury prevention
Contemporary/Modern/Jazz dance technique
falls/rolls/floor-work for stage combat, clown pratfalling, and injury prevention
Teaching Philosophy
Alex has over a decade of experience creating dances for movers of all skill levels via wedding dances, social partner dances, choreographing plays and musicals for actors with varying movement experience, or setting contemporary/modern concert dance works on professional dancers. Drawing on their rich background in partner dance, they often feature partnered or group lifts, tricks, dips and weight shares in their choreography. They pride themself on creating an instructional environment where you not only learn to move with grace, but also have fun, express yourself, and connect with others! Movement belongs to every human, so come learn to dance like nobody’s watching (even if they actually are)
Experience as a Performer and Choreographer
Alex spent their childhood dancing competitive ballroom and training in modern, tap and jazz, worked full time as a professional ballroom and social partner dance instructor and competitor.
Currently, they dance professionally for multiple contemporary/modern companies in Seattle including Miyoung Margolis Dance Company, the Guild Dance Company, Jerboa Dance Company and Coalescence Dance Company.
They choreograph professionally for plays, musicals, nightlife performances, and concert dance productions, receiving public recognition for their theatrical choreography through Theatre Puget Sound’s Gregory Awards and BroadwayWorld’s Seattle Awards.
